Besides the obvious from the first answer. I like the fit and finish of the Acadia better than the Envoy. The Acadia is the latest effort that General Motors has put together in a family vehicle. It's lines are sensuously masculine. The dual exhausts hints at a muscular machine capable of handling whatever life throws at it. When you sit in the drivers seat and close the door, you hear that reassuring thump of the door. In the cabin, it smells like leather, it feels buttoned down and the dash looks like a command and control center. I am convinced this is the more impressive vehicle and my money would go on the GMC Acadia. It is that good.

First of all, any dealership you go to will always have some sort of "can't pass it up" kind of offer they'll whip out just to get you interested. Most of their deals are a bunch of bull. Dealerships get bonuses from the respective manufacturers based on the volume of vehicles they're able to sell in a given month or quarter. These bonuses tend to be quite substantial. So if they act like you're taking the food off of their family's table, tell them to stick a sock in it. You should never EVER pay MSRP for a vehicle. If you do, you're just saying that you didn't work hard enough for the money in your pocket and that this car dealer deserves it more than you. When you talk to the dealer, get the price of the car all by itself from them. Don't let them try to "run some numbers". They're going to ask you for your social security number so they can pull a credit report so they can start looking at what kind of APR they can slap on the loan they're going to try to sell you. Just get the price of the vehicle without financing or any added warranties or stuff like that. Once you get the price, do your homework. Find out what fair market value is for the vehicle and for each and every option you want on the vehicle. There are plenty of websites with loads of good info out there. And don't even mention a trade in to them. Your trade in has nothing to do with how much the vehicle costs and should not be factored into your purchasing of the vehicle until the very last step. As for the GMC Envoy, my advice is to steer clear. It only has average predicted reliability, much worse than average depreciation, worse than average owner satisfaction, average accident avoidance, and much worse than average fuel economy (only 15 mpg). You can do a LOT better for yourself with $36,000 than the GMC Envoy. If shopping for a mid-sized SUV which is the category that the Envoy falls into I would reccommend the Toyota Highlander Hybrid Limited. The price is comparable to the Envoy but you'll get so much more for your money including peace of mind. The Highlander Hybrid gets 22 mpg on average, has much better than average reliability, and is easy to drive. If the Highlander proves to be a little too expensive, my next choice would be the Honda Pilot EX-L. It's also a great vehicle but it's gas mileage is not as good (17 mpg average) but it is about $5,000 cheaper than the Highlander. Finally, if the Highlander Hybrid and Pilot don't do it for you, my last suggestion would be the Toyota Highlander Limited with the V6. It actually gets better gas mileage than the Pilot (19 mpg) and costs just about the same. Hope this helps. Good luck! Oh, and do buy the extended warranty, it's a waste of money. Trust me on this one.
