I have a recipe for cat food,boric acid and grape jelly.Supposed to mix into balls and put around yard to kill red ants.How can I do this and protect my dogs too?

You don't! The ingredients the you listed, cat food and jelly, are going to attract your dogs and the boric acid will probably make them sick. I would go to a Home and Garden store and find an ant killer that is animal friendly and safe. The one I use is safe for kids and dogs, since I have both. There are many out there that contain organic ingredients that will not harm pets. I would not use one that is attractive to your dogs!

You can't lure your pets with a food and expect them not to eat it. Go to the store and buy a box of Grits. Sprinkle it on mounds. Ants eat it, swell up and die. Won't hurt your pets.
