The smell is not ozone, that has a nasty acrid smell. The smell is called petrichor. Plants release volatiles into the air that are absorbed by the earth and rocks. When it rains, the mixed volatiles are released by the eath giving a pleasing scent. There are also some funguses that add to the smell by releasing spores when it rains. Some years ago an Italian company distilled it from rocks and soil and marketed it as "earthscent".
