My opinion is Jimmy Carter is a senile old man and needs to stop trying to be the statesman that he wasn't when he actually held office. As to his claim, split Palestine in to a billion pieces for all I care it will make the Israelis and the Arabs very happy. The only Arab that supports Palestine are crazy men that use them to justify blowing up babies.

My opinion: Mr. Carter was, is, and will always be, a blithering idiot when it comes to politics.
The Palestinians split themselves, before Jimmy got to the news media with his ridiculous notion.
Choosing sides in a war and/or supporting one side over the other is good international politics.
The French hated the English and consequently helped the Colonists during the Revolutionary War. The hard part is to pick the winning side when the battle starts.

They are already split...see hamas and fatah.
If we can separate the two sides into Gaza and the West Bank and the extreme side can see the benefits of working a two state solution and of denouncing violence, The strategy may work and may force groups like Hamas to be destroyed from with in.

Our "leader of the free world" has managed to create a huge divide in this country, why not the rest of the world, as well?

we split the palestinians? ha ha ha!
they are doing just fine on their own. when the bad guys fight among themselves, just stand back and let 'em have at it.
the pals wanted israelis out of gaza. they got out. how's it working out so far?
their situation begs the question: is it possible for 90 or more percent of a people to be born lacking the common sense gene? sure seems like it.

and hamas had nothing to do with it? carter is not informed and should only speak when spoken to. maybe the left is using him as a puppet since he does not have an office to run for in '08. palestine is doing it to themselves and hamas is leading the way. to say that the current situation is in any way the fault of the USA is loony, just like carter.

I think that Carter should learn when to keep his mouth shut, given the state he left this country in when he left office in 1980. (14% inflation rate, gas shortages at the pump, 7% unemployment rate, Iranian hostage crisis, no pride in American workmanship, Americans told to prepare for the worste instead of looking forward to the best)
