This is often a very controversial topic and I'm not necessarily understanding why proponents of affirmative action seem to think there still needs to be an egalitarian opportunity for people of races, nationalities, orientation, etc when really we are living in with capitalist forces that desire for competition only through merits

We need to drop this program and become a truly "colorblind" society.

Racists have used this program to justify their racism for a long time. It isn't helping anyone, especially the people it was designed for.

Affirmative action is outdated. I think that the person who merits the opportunity the most should be able to achieve the opportunity. Our nation has become more diverse and we are recognizing the acheivements of the people regardless of their differences. It used to be that some would discriminate against people, but I don't see that happening as much. Maybe it is because of the area of the country I live in, but opportunities seem to be out there for everyone here in the western US.

No - it is discrimination. I don't see why anyone would want to even admit they got a job because of affirmative action - it basically shows that those who are hired through affirmative action are inferior to those who deserved the job and couldn't have gotten the job through their own merits.

I think it is only in this regard...

Our law makers are trying to force an Amnesty bill down our throats. However this bill by design is bigoted towards the illegals from Mexico, and not so much from the rest of the world. They make it sound easy for the head of an Illegal Mexican to go home wait 2 years pay money and viola!
Much harder for say someone here on an expired visa from Germany. Just my 2 cents.

No, I do not. No matter how many laws you make, people are never going to be truly equal with one another. That is not how the world works. Even in socialism, communism, no one is TRULY equal.

It is rising above our challenges that makes us become great human beings. And, if you put all the different "minority" groups (including women and homosexuals) into one pile and everyone else into another, which would be larger?

No.

Affirmative Action's "two wrongs make a right" logic is fundamentally flawed.

No. Giving people things based on race is prejudiced, no matter what color the person is.
