My mom is 35 years old and she is 6-8 weeks pregnant. She has real trouble with nausea and vomiting every time she eats, or even when she tries to drink water. The only things she can seem to keep down are bananas. Any suggestions on what she can try?

Also, is there anything she can eat to improve her chances of having a boy? The whole family wants a little boy.

Tell her to try saltine crackers or ginger snap cookies. As for having a boy....sorry to tell you but thats already been determined and there is no changing it. Good luck.

Morning sickness and things that help alleviate it vary for every woman. Your mom just needs to keep experimenting on what works for her. If bananas work for her, then tell her to just keep eating them. At this point in the pregnancy, calories are what matter more than anything else. The baby will get the nutrients it needs, pretty much no matter what she eats.

And the sex of the baby is determined before she even found out she was pregnant. It is determined by the sperm, and nothing your mom can do can change it.

I had the same problem ..I couldn't eat anything. I lost 20 lbs my first trimester. Don't worry she'll be able to eat more as she goes along. For now have her take ginger suppliments.

As far as improving her chances of a boy... there is no way to do that. The baby is already what it is going to be.

Saltine crackers are the best thing to help with the nausea. If your mom is already pregnant then the sex of the baby has already been determined.

Food high in Vitamin B6

Eating more frequent smaller meals, and not waiting too long to eat, don't get over hungry!

Sipping Ginger Ale soda, like Cananda Dry or Vernors.

And eating crakers.
