I am planning on reading it but before I would like to know what it means.

Yes, it's "Later gator"- you pronounce the numbers.

gr8 = Great

b4 = before

and so on...

It is IM speak for "Later Gator," or a form of "See you later."

it means later and great, though I find it very annoying when people type like that.
