quite amusing to see alexi lalas claiming the premier league stole marketing techniques from america and that the mls is a better product....maybe the league is more balanced at ensuring all teams stay at a competitive level with eachother, but is the league actually comparable to any other league in the world?.

in a word....no......players who cant cut it in europe head to the mls....beckham is different he is a class player and wants to make a difference....but is the mls better then the premier league?

Eh, I think he has a somewhat valid point, the gap between the EPL and MLS is exaggerated, although the EPL is ultimately superior in the caliber of the average player. He is right on about the EPL having only 2-4 teams with any chance of winning and how that brings down how interesting the league is as a whole. You know if you're a Manchester City fan your team will never accomplish anything, and that sucks.

Alexi (whom I have met personally) is rightfully proud of the coming of American soccer during his representation. However, until the kids in school are turning down baseball, basketball, wrestling and football scholarships to play the most popular worldwide sport, I feel there will always be at least a small drop in quality from the EPL or other organized top-notch worldwide leagues.

Lalas did not say, that "MLS is better than EPL." He said that players in MLS could hold their own in the EPL. He also said that most of those putting down the MLS have never even seen an MLS game. I think he's probably right in both cases.

Lalas is a clown, and should be ignored as such. Right now, the Premiership is the best league in the world. MLS has always been, and always will be, crap. Even with Beckham, it's still a crap league.

beckhams at the end of his career, everybody thought he wasnt as good because he was older. the only contract he could get was at LA. now everybody sees hes just as good as he used to be. hes not as fast but he can still supply awesome freekicks and crosses. the MLS isnt as competetive as the EPL yet cuz its still kinda new. in 10 years itll be alot better.
