Watch reruns of Miami Vice on the Sleuth channel, or old music videos.
Bright or pastel colors for shirts, sorta tight
Baggy pants or Guess? jeans sorta tight
Blazer with big shoulderpads
no socks
big hair on top of your head, sorta loose curly & lots of hairspray
gold jewelry, including one earring (in an earlobe)
More preppy? Alligator shirts, one pink, one green, layered and collars turned up in teh back, with sleeves rolled to show both shirts...khakis or tight fitting jeans, penny loafers with no socks.
More punk? Watch videos of the alternative boy bands and wear mostly black... Big oversized blazer with a white tee shirt and pants with ripped out knees, black ankle boots, and big hair. Loads of black plastic rubber or silver chain bracelets and spiked dog collars on your wrists and neck.
(Yes, this is what guys wore!)

You could do the whole excercise 80s look. with the hair bands and the colorful sweat pants tucked into the socks. with an 80s mesh excercise shirt.
or you could get some old checkered vans.with some tight jeands and some big neon colored framed sunglasses and a button up colorful shirt with some funky 80s design all over it with the coller popped and some bighair style with gel in it.
you could always watch 80s movies and get some ideas there.

Ok, first off a graphic T-shirt for any band from the era, preferably tight.
Faded jeans, preferably tacky acid wash or even destroyed denim.
think Billy Idol hair, if not just a little bit more volume coupled with spikes,
and as far as accessories.... Tawny Kitaen usually does just fine, either that or a gal dressed like Madonna from the Like A Virgin era.

Wear:
1) printed cotton t-shirt with vibrant colors on it
2) wear blue jeans that fit right (not baggy)
3) nike sneakers (dunks) or pumas
4) do your hair a funky style

wear straight legs jeans, no bootcut style, for hairstyle you want big hair. really poofed out.
