If a turtle weren't to have its shell, it would be dead, for its shell is its exoskeleton, holding the whole turtle and its organs together.

both, also defenseless, because he uses the shell to hide in for protection... on the other hand, he might move faster without the shell... guess i'd rather have the shell....
