If you don't want to spend any money you can still play on-line poker without spending a dime. All you have to do is download the software, make up a name and password, then verify your e-mail address, then go to the tables and play for play chips. I don't ever recommend that if you are just starting out that you learn by playing for real money first. This is because people who are playing for play chips are not risking anything at all, so they will make horrible plays, this will lead you to pick up some bad habits of your own and when you get into real money games it will be hard for you to play good poker. Putting up your own cash is a risk, but in order to get a feel for the game it is well worth it.

www.pogo.com has lots of games, including a couple of versions of poker. Some of these are restricted to "club" members only, but I know that at least 1 of the poker games is free.

I'm not sure if any of the online poker sites have an option to play against computer opponents or not. Most only let you play against real people.

I will add though that you will not learn real poker by only playing against computers. You'll learn the mechanics of the game, but in order to learn the nuances of the game, you will have to play against other humans and later you'll have to actually bet money if you are still serious about learning the game. I've found that free poker is an entirely different game from real money stakes.

You could also try WSOP for the PS2. You can play against computer opponents.

Personally I like the free games on FullTilt.org
