bring it to him and tell him you have not been able to use it right since he dismantled it. Ask him to put it back together the right way please.
That will tell him he ruined it in a nice way
He'll replace it

You know, most responsible adults would not have waited to be asked to replace it. If it were me, I would have fallen all over myself apologizing and would have certainly already offered to replaced even if it was, like so many here have pointed out, simply a $5 toy. Fact is, it wasn't my $5 toy and because I broke it, I should be responsible to pay for it.
Having said that, I feel that he should absolutely replace the item. I also agree with some others here in how you approach the subject with him is important. The next time you are over at your friend's house (and I would make sure that is a time that your friend's dad will be there), when you see him you could try humor; something like: "Everyone hide your rubic's cubes, the cube slayer is in the house!!" (that is what I would do) I believe that this broaches the subject while not putting anyone on the defensive. Next, immediately after the snickers of laughter, you should say "Awww, I'm just kidding Mr. Jones but seriously...you know that my Rubic's cube is broken? (maybe he doesn't even know!!) And after he responds, you could say something like, " I hope to buy another one when I get my allowance next week". If the man has any class at all, he will immediately offer to replace the toy. You might want to make sure Mrs. Jones is in the room as well cuz if HE doesn't offer, chances are his wife will be mortified!!

Take it to him and tell him the thing is broken and you'd appreciate him giving you the money to buy another one ~ and don't let him get ahold of anything else. He can buy his own toys and take them apart. That was rather rude of him to do this with someone else's toy. Make him pay ....

Yes you should, as a dad. I would have gotten you a new one anyway. I dont know what the situation was but I am not in the habbit of playing with my kids, friends toy.
Try to be descrete though. Tell him you have been having problems with it and see if he responds. If not, tell him directly, or suggest he keep it as he enjoys tearing it apart and get you another.

well, if my dad broke my rubics cube, i would be mad too. i know where your comming from hunny. your upset, and frustrated, am i right?
first of all, stay calm. take your broken rubics cube up to your dad, and say, goodmorning father. i just want to inform you that you broke my rubics cube. i cant solve it anymore, and its completley messed up.
say this in a calm, adult like manner. he will be surprised and pleased that you are acting so mature about this stressful situation.
everyone has certain attachments. say for example, i am attached to my guitar. well, maybe your rubics cube was like a friend to you. you loved it didnt you. and i know its hard. i know.
tell your dad about your worries. he might even go out and buy you a new one. as for now, try to get a new hobby. do you like to play chess? how about chutes and ladders?
also, try taking your mind off of your rubics cube. there are bigger worries in your life. think about global warming, or the thousands and thousands of people living in poverty.
goodluck, and i hope i helped :]]
