Wearing a dress doesn't make a man a transvestite anymore than walking in a garage makes him a Toyota. A real transvestite is born that way. Its a person who feels they NEED to wear the clothes of the opposite sex for their own well-being.
For instance. A male transvestite's brain is hard wired in such a way that if we wears woman's clothes he receives a powerful stimulus in his brain which produces a sensation of well-being, pleasure, sexual gratification and self-identity. Its a powerful stimulus and he will do anything to get that sensation again. He will go further and further in his crossdressing, eventually adopting a female alter-ego. He will give his female alter-ego a feminine name. He will dress in the most outrageous women's clothes because that ultra-feminine image is what pushes his brain to produce more stimulus. If this sounds like an addiction - - it is. The transvestite cannot stop himself. He will have to set limits upon his crossdressing or it will eat him up.

A crossdresser is a person who dresses as a member of the opposite sex (boy as a girl, girl as a boy).

Note that this does not indicate the person's sexual orientation. There are plenty of straight guys who like to wear women's clothing (why? I have no idea).

Someone who dresses as a member of the opposite sex. Thye will normally get some sort of kick out of it, which can vary from being purely sexual, to purely psychological, or somewhere in between.

That's exactly what it means. Someone who dresses as the opposite sex, they also may/may not adopt their actions. (as in masculine/feminine body language. A transsexual is one whom is physically one sex, but mentally/emotionally is the other. There are some modernizations to the term transsexual due to sex changes. (Operations for/of)
