1.Metallica-they haven't made a decent album in years, have lost their "metalness" and years ago claimed they would never make a video.

2.Ozzy-he also hasn't made a truly great album in years. The tv show made him look like a joke, and when he and his wife remastered his earlier albums replacing the bass and drums because they didn't want to pay former band members, I was done with Ozzy.

3-Motley Crue-they fired Vince Neil temporarily and hired John Corabi. That would have been okay but then they made a grunge sounding album and when fans rebelled suddenly decided to become "Crue" again.

4-KISS-they will do anything to make a dime off of people. Music quality comes last with them.

5)Aerosmith-They became a teenyboper band after being killer in the 70's. Seeing them perform one year at the Superbowl with Britney Trailer Park Trash Spears and N'Stink was the final straw for me.

Springsteen & The E highway Band: particularly day holiday between previous due 80s to 90s, yet with albums like Born To Run & Darkness on the perimeter of city in 70s, and The River and Born indoors the country in 80s....and in spite of the shown fact that doing 2.5-3 hour shows now whilst day holiday that is not common to particular the Boss. The Eagles: some ameliorations indoors the line-up over the years - and "a 14 3 hundred and sixty 5 days holiday" - yet consistently sheer classification in regardless of style they play. Meat Loaf and The Neverland demonstrate: even in spite of the shown fact that extra desirable like a McDonalds franchise than a band (comparable clown up the front perpetually with group changing interior the back of the counter)...the super Fella and whoever is with him on the time will rock. Alice Cooper: yet yet another franchise, yet boy can Vince get your activity. weapons N' Roses: "I-I-I-I extremely have been given something in my eye...the area did they bypass now?" Now i've got have been given have been on condition that out of my gadget scale back is up there with the incredible of them.

I hate to say it as much as I like her early stuff but #1 has to be Liz Phair. (So disappointing) I don't blame her though. At least she doesn't pull her punches about it. At least from what I've heard.
Anyways, I don't know anything about the beginnings of these bands. So I don't know who sold out and who didn't, but I will say that on their MySpace page My Chemical Romance plays 30 second clips of their songs as opposed to full tracks, really, really tacky. I think that would land them on the list.
Don't forget though, you had to alter what you do or who you are for the sole purpose of making to have sold out. Not just be popular.

I hate the stupid f-cking term "sell out". Any time a band starts to get more airplay, has more fans than they used to, matures, or tries new stuff someone starts claiming that they've sold out.

And I hate to break your heart, but none of those bands were ever "true rock music" besides Metallica anyway.

I'm a Metallica fan but I have to agree that the band is pretty much dead unless they write thrashy material again. As for the other bands, they always did suck anyway.

3. Nine Inch Nails.
4. Blink 182
5. All emo crap. It sucks and it's not music.

Hey, all but Metallica sold out from the start. At least Metallica put out a few good albums before declining. Don't forget Bad Religion either; their new stuff is pure crap.

Fall Out Boy sold out with FROM UNDER THE CORK TREE.
Green Day sold out with AMERICAN IDIOT.
Metallica sold out with THE BLACK ALBUM.
My Chemical Romance sold out with whatever came after THREE CHEERS FOR SWEET REVENGE.
Atreyu just recently signed to HOLLYWOOD RECORDS and their BEST-OF COMPILATION is due for release this summer.

BAD RELIGION sucks now.

1, 4, and 5 were never anything BUT commercial.

Rod Stewart is #1 on my list, with his stupid jazz covers.

Mothersbaugh from Devo and Elfman from Oingo are great instrumental composers, but that's pretty soft, too.
