I hate it when people post stuff up that has nothing to do with your question just to earn points.

Actually, it is funny you should mention this. I was just discussing this with a friend of mine who is a black electrical engineer. He does not have any sort of accent or any difficulty enunciating words.
We were discussing how some black people speak so poorly that they are nearly unintelligible. I remembered back when I was a small boy in a large metropolitan city. There were some black people who lived and worked around my neighborhood. They all spoke English just as well as anyone else.
Then, in the early 60's the city started to build all kinds of public housing projects. The result was a major influx of poor southern blacks into our city. They sounded very different than the other black people I heard.
I always referred to them a black red-necks. Their dialect included such errors as not conjugating verbs, mumbling, mispronouncing words etc. I think this southern dialect is what you are hearing.
Many black people use it some of the time and some use it all of the time. For instance, Oprah Winfrey will sometimes use it to make a point, for comedic effect or to express outrage.
I notice that blacks from other countries such as England or Australia or the West Indies do not do this. I always assumed it was a cultural thing. But I am by no means an expert.
I would love to know what black people think. It should prove to be most interesting.

black people don't have an accient, thats like me saying i am not racist and asking why do white people have an accient and yes it does not sound like they do. i could say why do they always say "like" before every sentence or that they are very country, but its not true because they don't. African Americans speak from there surroundings, and being one, i speak as if i am from up north with a very proper accient and never been there a day in my life, but its the case of my surroundings so we don't have an accient it's just what you are hearing from that type of surrounding.

Not to be mean but I think this is a lame question and thats why people aren't responding you the way you want them too. There are people from every race that has an accent. The reason why some people have an accent because of their upbringing, where they are from.

No I don't think. If you are from the southern states, then you would obviously have a southern ACCENT just like the white people do. If you are from New York or New Jersey, you will have a certain ACCENT also. It has NOTHING to do with your race. I definitely don't have an accent and I am black. So once again...........STOP GENERALIZING!

That is not true. Do black people in Africa all have the same accents? Africa is a continent that has many countries so the people are not all going to sound the same. That's like saying that White people all have the same accents.

black folk don't have different accents (at least thats not what you mean). They have their own vernacular (version of the language).
There are many theories as to why black vernacualr sounds the way it does. Some people believe it has to do with their ancestry and the african languages.

They don't. A black person from Brazil isn't going to sound the same as me. In fact if you called me on the phone you wouldn't know that I was black until you met me. Its not about the ethnicity it is about the region and location that you come from. Hatians don't sound the same as Ugandans and a black person from Ohio doesn't sound the same as a black person from California. Places honey, not faces=)

Accent. In America, it's typically a "southern" accent. Kids learn their pronunciation from their mothers, who learned it from their mothers who... you get the picture.
Blacks in other countries have the accents of those countries. Watch a show from Britain or Australia.
