if the color chart is red, orange, yellow, green, blue, etc.... why is indigo before violet? It seems like its going from darkest to lightest but indigo is darker than violet.....wtf?

indigo can also be described as blue-violet, it goes between blue and violet because it is a mixture of those two colors.

The color chart is arranged by wavelength of light and not by how light or dark the colors are.

Indigo is a color designation, not a brightness designation. Indigo is sort of a blue-violet and, hence, belongs between blue and violet
