I bit my nails my whole life, and I used that bad nail biting nail polish over nail growth polish multiple times. I even paid for 6 months of fake nails only to have them grow out and break in a week cause they were so brittle. One day I just stopped, it was really weird nothing caused it, no event, experience or anything. I think what happend was that I did the double nail polish method so many times, that each time I wouldn't bite them for a little bit longer. Evenually, I just stopped, nad they started to grow and then they looked so nice I wouldn't pick at them. Just make sure to use nail hardner once they start to get long. There's nothing like breaking one nail to bring you back into the nail-biting habit -rationalizing that you're fixing them- and next thing you know you've chewed them all off. Just keep at it and keep gerowing them out as much as possible time and again. Also keep a nail file around at all times, so you 'fix' them that way instead of with your mouth.

Nail biting is one of the most disgusting things a person can do. I saw a special on the discovery channel about some type of parasite called a pin worm that can get from biting your nails. I don't really know all the details but the idea of catching something from biting my nails is enough for me to never bite a nail a day in my life.

I paint my nails with nail hardening polish and then a colored polish and a few nails gems. The hardening polish makes it harder for me to bite through my nails. When i look at the color and gems i stop biting because i remember how much time it took to get them to look right.
Ther are a lot of germs under your nails that don't always come off with soap and water. Would you lick your toilet (i hope the answer is no) so think of biting your nails as the same thing. That should help you stop

If you have tried several different things, then maybe you have some kind of stress going on. What I mean is, I have been biting my nails too for a long time, but it was cause I was stressed and lonely. Now that I have a boyfriend and it is summer, I have grown out my nails. I made a promise to myself that I would give out a reward when I stopped.

A lot of people are different when it comes to nail biting. I know of some that don't ever bite their nails. There are some that have for a long time. When I was in the fifth grade, I couldn't stop biting mine. By the time I was in sixth grade, I just stopped. I guess I got bored of it or something. Now I don't ever bite them. My advice for you is to simply try harder to stop. If you want to stop biting your nails so badly, than you have the will-power to control your actions.

there are many things you can do to stop biting.
dip your hands in tobasco sauce, vinegar, soap, or nail polish remover.
when you are at home wear gloves, or put band-aids on your fingers so you can bite them.
also, you could treat yourself to acrylics (fake nails) ..you wont be able to bite them because they are very hard, and eventually the habit wil break because you will stop biting if you cant even bite them.
also, think about this.. there is soo much bacteria under your nails from using the bathroom, sneezing, scratching.. also you touch things like doorknobs and at school everything..think or who else has touched that and where those hands have been. do you really want to be eating that?! soo much bacteria and grime and dirt and gross in on your nails.. so try putting them in your mouth now.
it can also be a stress thing so try to avoid stressful situations, or find some other way to relieve stress, like squeezing a ball.

Well this is a serious problem. You need to stop immediately. If you start to bite them just think that you are going to have to have surgery. I know people who have had to have this done because of biting there nails to much. You can always paint them or reward yourself for not biting your nails for a certain amount of time. Hope whatever you do you stop biting them!!

The things that have helped me to quit is having a nail file on hand. I was one of those types that would pick at a hangnail or mess with my nail layers that peel or my cuticles. So for me having a nail file in my purse prevents me from using my teeth because I can just file it down. Also using Hard As Nails on them everyday helps them to harden. Use the hardener then keep a file will you. There are as small as a pencil. Give it a try!

how about this. did you know you can get a parasite called pin worms from biting your nails? they live inside your colon grow then come out of your anus at night. or in your.. well we wont go there. then they lay eggs around your anus that itch you scratch the eggs get under your nails and so begins the process again. Yes its true. I saw a special on it. Or you can always try putting a rubber band on your wrist when you go to bite your nails pop yourself (not hard) but youll quickly stop!
