I bought a basket case, I think I've almost got it going. I just need the diagram to try to figger out what the last owner did to the wiring.

Use the SL350 - practically the same thing.

Use too but I know thats not your answer your looking for. I owned a '72 SL that I rebuilt -(because of a frame destroying crash) and found it easy to recconect the factory connectors to establish perfectly aligned wire coding. If the wiring has been hacked apart you must spend the time to understand why (in the first place) and how to restore it back with the savy of Sherlock Holmes. Trust your instintcts when it comes to why these wires were cut and re-designated in the first place. My guess is that the battery-operatted system was short-wired to keep the engine alive w/out a battery.
