embarcadero is the best. anywhere from Chrissy Fields to Pier 39. I usually go to pier 39.
Be prepared for cold. Bythe time fireworks start it could only be 50 degrees outside. Warm jacket, pants and maybe gloves are a must. I went a few years back and I don't know that i have been that cold in so long.
another option, take one of the ferry rides/fireworks tours. They ride around the bay and you get to see them from the water. Very fun.

Head out to the Embarcadero! Watch the fireworks over the Golden Gate Bridge! Be prepared, though-- it's going to be PACKED with people. But it's worth it! Have fun, and HAPPY EARLY BIRTHDAY!

I love to watch the fireworks from the water, even if it's foggy you can still see the lower fireworks. If you do a cruise they will stay pretty close to the barges where the fireworks are launched from. I suggest doing a dinner cruise, that way if it is foggy you are still having a ton of fun!

Somewhere outside of SF. It is often really foggy here that time of year and fireworks lose a little luster. Generally, Jack London Square has them, and it is less foggy over there.

Embarcadero! However, it could be very crowded. I suggest that you take the BART.
