why do you want to get rid of it, bamboo is in lots of gardens in spain, i had it in mine in spain too, its a good space filler and it can tolerate the conditions, alot of spaniards make money from bamboo. it virtually impossible to get rid of, i know the spanish burn it, but then it comes back the next year, you are getting into the time of year where you cant have a garden fire in spain without a licence, big fine if you do, hasta luego

That's a good one because bamboo is practically impossible to get rid of. Bamboo is a form of grass and its root system grows at least 6ft underground. If you do not get all the roots then the bamboo will come back. You may have to hire professionals to come and dig them up with a backhoe or something. Good luck

You actually have to burn it at the base. Start a small fire at the base of each stalk until you can push it over with ease. 9 times out of 10, this will destroy the root system and prevent it from growing back.
Good Luck!
