I receive internet service via dialup. Is there a way I can access video with such a connection? On websites such as YouTube I log on to a still picture that starts the video, but after a second or two of "action" the movement stops. Does this mean I need a broadband connection for any and all video?
Help wanted from those who understand these matters far better than I. Thanks.

Most video is "streaming" video, meaning that it plays as it downloads. This does not work well at all on a dial-up connection since the download speed is so slow. What you can do is pause the video and wait until it has finished downloading (it will take quite a while) and then play it.

Broadband. They have not created a dialup thats able to dealing with all the severe teck web pages accessible without taking 2 hours to receive. Dialup additionally seems to have an severe prejudice against flash web pages

Yes, unfortunatly dial up is way too slow to do video in a reasonable amount of time...

You could sit there and wait for it to finish downloading and then watch it but that would probably be a few hours..

You need to get dsl or cable

The stopping and starting is called buffering. Short of recommending you get DSL or cable, your only option is to download the video and play it native to your computer.

It just means that you have to let it buffer for like an hour or so. My friend who used to have dial-up said he would have to wait like 3 hours for a 10 minute video to buffer.
