Buying a pet in sense is like having a baby.

When they are coming home, you go out and buy them a bed, toys, collors, food, and supplys.

They require attention, love, and become a major part of your life. You can no longer get up and say im going to go out and party all night, and spend the night somewhere else...NO..you need to be there the next morning to feed and take the dog out.

Just like children they have a personality, some can be quiet, and calm. While others can be loud and rebeliouse.

Just like some kids are fast learner, so are some dogs,

just like some kids need a little extra help to learn, so do some dogs.

When a dog gets sick, you cant just ignore it, something has to be done. thats where your vet comes in. Hes will be giving your dog, shots, medication and check ups. the same thing a child goes through with a pediatrician. And they arent cheap, so now there is even Pet insurance.

Now one thing alot of people dont get is that you cant return a child to a hospital, because your new apartments arent children friendly, or you have no money for it. Pets are a life long commitment, just like kids are.

The dogs at the shelters have been abandoned by the person that should have been there for them, just like the kids at the orphanage.

They go through life stages...Baby...kid...teenager, all of these things bring new things that we have to be prepared for.

If you arent ready to have a kid, you arent ready to own a dog.

When you get a pet. It is a life long commitment. (Life of the
pet)
You must be sure you have the time, energy and resources
to take care of a pet. Feeding it every day is a must
Spending time with your pet will make it feel comfortable with
you. Training your pet will make it happy to behave for you.
Cleaning up after your pet will keep it and you healthy. Vet checks are
important for you and your pet. When you have a pet, you are
responsible for the pet. You are the one that must do all the
work. You cannot just give up and /or give the pet away. That
is not being responsible or mature.

Everyone that has a pet or more needs to have a First Aid Kit on hand. If you take your pet on trips in the car one there as well. Also they need to know how to help their animal before going to the vet. There are good books out there to give you helpful hints on all types of emergencies. I can't believe the questions on animals that have been hit by a car or giving birth. People with pets need a lot more education on their care and well being.
