Reverse racism implies that one skin color doing the discriminating is somehow on another level than the other color. Racism is racism, regardless of the race doing the discriminating. Racism is not a one way street.

I'm not saying that racism doesn't occur towards whites, because obviously it does. I'm saying that "racism" is the term that should be used in this instance, lest we construct more barriers between people of different skin colors.

It's definitely ridiculous. People who whine about "reverse racism" don't even understand what racism is. Racism isn't just about bigotry and prejudice. It's about *systematic* bigotry and prejudice.

There's a huge difference between some one person treating someone badly because they're white, and the fact that our entire social structure demeans and devalues an entire diverse group of people simply because they *aren't* white.

It's easy to get the two things confused, or to ignore the second kind completely, when someone's looking at the individual instances of racism from a privileged perspective to begin with. That doesn't make the mistake any less ridiculous or wrong, though.

My take is that the term "reverse racism" implies unwarranted racism by the "side" that is "doing" the racism. However, it's still racism no matter how you slice it. Racism is racism...PERIOD!
Would the average person tell if they were the victim of racism or reverse racism? How can one differentiate? The term "reverse racism" is a misnomer--invented by a racist.

Yes, this doesn't make sense. I think that racism goes either way, no matter the races that are involved, I have wondered why when the word racism comes up it is only thought of as white vs. black, but it isn't.

The term is used by Mr. Potter as derogatory in Its a Wonderful Life. I'm pretty certain he was not talking about Koreans or any other Asians. I'd guess Italians or more likely non Anglo Saxons.

Reverse Racism- Being racist toward a person or group in an effort not to be racist toward a different person or group.

You generally hear of "reverse discrimination" rather than reverse racism.

That is where a black person gets a job for which they may or may not be the best qualified and the person they beat out, who is not black, takes the matter to court saying they were unfairly skipped over.

Yes, because it's the white person's excuse to further discriminate other races.

It doesn't make sense or even exist really; racism is racism no matter how you flip or twist it
