1] measure snugly under your bust. Add 5 inches. This is the
band size. Ex.: 31" chest + 5 = 36 band
2] measure around fullest part of bust, and subtract the band
size from this. Ex.: 39" bust - 36" band = 3" difference.
1" = A cup
2" = B
3" = C
4" = D
5" = DD
6" = F , etc.
In the above example, you would wear a 36C bra.
If this is your first bra, buy it so it fits at the tightest hook setting - you will continue to grow, and need a little room.
Pay attention to the types of bras that fit you well - brand,
material between cups or not, etc.
Go shopping when you have lots of time, and try to take a good female friend or relative with you.

There are a couple different ways, one way is to measure underneath your breasts, and add five inches to the number. Then measure at the fullest part of your breasts. Subtract the 1st number from the 2nd. The difference is your cup size, a is 1" b is 2" and so on. Then measure around your chest directly under armpits, that is your band size. Next time you go to the mall, ask a lady in the bra dept at j.c. penny's or macy's to measure you, it will be more accurate.

The best way to check what bra size you need is to stand straight and wrap a tape measure around the ribcage, under the bust. Pull it so that it is firm but not tight. This will give you the size of your required band. To check the cup size you need, wrap the measure around the fullest part of the bust, and again pull until firm but not restrictively tight.
Whatever the inch size around the ribcage, you should add five to it (and round it up to the next even number if adding five gives you an odd number). This will give your band size. Then calculate the difference between the band size and the cup measurement to get your cup size. If the measurement you get when you measure for your cup size is the same as that of your band size once you have added five, your cup size will be A.
Up to one inch difference is cup size B
Up to two inches is cup size C
Up to three inches is cup size D
Up to four inches is cup size DD

okay...the actual number part of a bra size is how many inches you are around just UNDER your breasts. once you have that number (32 or 34 or whatever you are)...for cup size, measure yourself around the fullest part of your breasts. the difference in these 2 numbers will help you find your cup size (a,b,c, etc.)...the problem is, i can't remember if a 1" difference is an a cup, or what...but you CAN go to some stores and they will help you find the right size (a vast majority of women wear the wrong size bra)... i know victoria's secret will measure you, as will any hanes/bali outlet...also, there's a chart in the dressing room of fashion bug stores that will explain it better than i probably can...good luck.
edit** you know, the answer above mine is actually perfect...go with that one! :)

If you and your friends go to the mall and there's a Victoria's Secret there, stop in there. They have women with measuring tape that will help you out :)

Go into town and go to Marks and Spencers or Anne Summers, they do measuring for you.
I think It's for free, but I'm not too sure.
Whatever happens, best of luck
