I have always loved to travel and have been to most counties. although I know how to relate to my host in any country, I always feel a little superior in a kindly way, like with americans for eg, me the adult them the small child, where do we get this from? is this the bulldog spirit that made us the most formidable fighting force in history? that entitles us to look down on other people.
Nice replies please, this is written with my tongue in my left cheek

Correct me if I am wrong, according to my history books England and the English language was established well before America was founded, maybe you read different history books.

I think no matter where you come from you feel superior. I think people are just proud of there culture and education.
But nothing entitle you/us to look down at other people.

I dont think of so - English is an across the worldwide accepcted language and its between the main significant languages in fairly some the Indian colleges with Hindi and the state language. speaking in English would not make one greater effective - its purely a thank you to chat with the the remainder of the worldwide

Keeping the stiff upper lip. In other words, not giving up despite horrible odds and deprivation. Churchill was right about what Britain would have done to fight the Nazi's. Victoria oversaw the very first true globalization of anything. I don't think the English are ALWAYS superior, but there is a lot to be said for the contributions BY the English.

English....superior!? Ha! Then why did they lose the majority of their empire if they're so damn great.
If they're so great then why did Churchill need to beg....BEG the USA to enter WWII!? You'd be eating Sauerkraut right now at 4:30 instead of tea and crumpets if it wasn't for us!!!
And where the hell are you now? Oh yeah...WE got a couple thousand of you watching the oil wells in the Gulf right now! Yeah you're so freakin' great!!
Oh, By the by....have you visited most countries or 'counties' as you stated there.....Mr. Perfect!

I hate people who think they are superior. Just because you are English does not make you superior. You are not entitled to look down on other people.
And I agree with that person up there, sorry forget the name. But they mentioned they were Welsh. I agreed with all points.

The English are certainly NOT superior. They are the nation most likely to me monolingual and, judging by the standard of English by first language speakers on this site, can't even master their own language. They are not popular with other nations either.. If I go abroad, people take it for granted that as I have a British passport I must be English and are slightly aloof at first. When they realise that I am Welsh, not English, they become much friendlier..deduce from that what you will.

English people are not superior. I'll list a reason why they're not superior. If they were superior then they wouldn't have been kicked out of Jamaica by the people there that weren't English.
