I just realized the button was even there! I used to have a dial up connection, but for the past year I've had high speed so I had to get a modem.

It would save a little bit of energy, not much though. The main reason for the standby button is so that you are not connected all the time (the longer you are connected, the longer people have to hack into your system). But, I leave mine on 24/7 and have never had a problem...I am also behind a router.

Yes it does.

It also saves your computer from being hacked while you aren't surfing if you are one of those whom has the habit of leaving your computer turned on all the time.

i dont bother with it cause the power it uses is so minimal and i have unlimited bandwidth
