I see a lot of bloggers spewing non-descript retorical questions. So here it is in a nut shell. Men and Women are dying for your rights to do just that, is it worth it?

I agree with C.S.L. We were more free before the war began. The Patriot Act and other Republican legislation are taking away our freedoms. If the Republicans had their way, there would be nothing left of the Constitution but the right to bear arms. They'd repeal the rest of the Bill of Rights if they could, but they don't have to because they're doing an end run around it with the Patriot Act, arresting people without evidence and holding them without a trial or formal charges.

There may have been more than one reason for going to war, but freedom never was one of those reasons, and all of the talk about freedom is nothing but political doubletalk of the very worst kind.

"Naturally, the common people don't want war...but after all it is the leaders of a country who determine the policy, and it is always a simple matter to drag the people along, whether it is a democracy, or a parliament, or a fascist dictatorship. Voice or no voice, the people can always be brought to the bidding of the leaders. That is easy. All you have to do is to tell them they are being attacked, and denounce the pacifists for lack of patriotism and exposing the country to danger. It works the same in every country"

Are you proud that our leaders are following in the footsteps of the Nazis?

How so? Not that I do not appreciate what our troops are doing, but it seems to me that they are just policing two foriegn ideologies that are hell bent on killing each other? Please explain to me how they are dying for my rights? My grandfather's generation died for my rights in WWII. That was a war worth fighting. Iraq is not. The Iraqis were not going to take our freedoms away. They did not destroy the WTC. They did have a psycho dictator who WE propped up until he wasn't useful anymore.
