who is better Mexico or USA who is really the GIANT of CONCACAF?

To me it's a two- headed giant. Honestly, who's better seems to change from year to year. Certainly Mexico has more fans, more passionate fans, and a stronger tradition, but the US has more people to draw talent from, and there's a strong contingent of youth players, which ought to continue and grow over time.

I will try not to take sides but CorazonChiva17 knows what he's talking about he has a good argument. But I will try to disprove his theory.

Fifa thinks that the US is better according to there ranking but if you see it I think everyone can disagree with more than half of the list.

now I will go with my argument for Mexico. I will note that the 2002 world cup was very disappointing for Mexico. but moving on to the present Mexico did not get far but did give one of the best if not the best games of the world cup against a world class team like Argentina. Not to mention there participation in the confederations cup.

In 2006 The US on got one point in the whole tournament and scored two goals.

Mexico and the US have both done terrible in the tournament with Mexico receiving more criticism because of the lose but I don’t know if anyone saw any of the games they are all boring .
Now in present 2007 the gold cup has been completely terrible and will not give the CONCACAF a better name. I seriously think they should only have 2 and a half spots for the world cup instead of the 3 and a half.

The reason Mexico is always seen as the giant of the CONCACAF is because of the accomplishments (four gold cups, one confederations cup, plus Two second places in Copa America which they are invited too). Mexico is the team that put the CONCACAF on the map. Mexico is the most recognizable team in the area. Plus it has been more consistent.

The 98 world cup the US received last place and lost to Iran

I understand that the US is doing better in the gold cup but Mexico’s in the same place and they’ll both probably go to the finals. Plus you cant say much about both teams they have both disappointed me in many ways. Who ever wins the cup will probably decide the giant for the next four year

The question is: Who is better? not Who has better fans, a richer history, and better numbers against Argentina, Brazil, and Germany.

At this point, the United States is clearly better than Mexico. Why? Because Mexico cannot beat the United States without the help of Azteca Stadium's height. Not true? Well, World Cup 2002 was on neutral territory. And what happened there?

Don't get me wrong, I am a Mexico fan through and through, but before that, I am a soccer fan and I will not let my heart sway my mind. Until Mexico begins to pick up its level of play and begin to make the U.S. suffer, the U.S. is clearly better.

At this point..the Giant...well, the GIANT seems a bit much, the best team in a watered down Confederation like CONCACAF is the United States.

The GIANT of the CONCACAF historically is Mexico...yeah they're number 2 right now in the Concacaf world ranking and yes the USA has a way better spot than Mexico right now in FIFA rankings but heck this is the first time they've been ahead of us in FIFA rankings since I remember....Brazil is the best team in world...they haven't won the last cups though and they've lost the last games against Mexico...is Mexico better than them are we the CONMEBOL giants ? Hell no....stop asking stupid questions....we have to wait and see...wait for the Gold Cup to end see the USA prove themselves against South American teams like Brazil, Argentina and then talk.... about them being CONCACAF giants

Mexico is way better the mexican football league, the best in N.America, is 100 better than the american when was the last time an american team won the any championship internationaly.
The U.S may have more players out in EUROPE but most are playing in 2nd diviton or small 1st divition clubs
Mexcio few ones are on the top TEAMS of all EUROPE ((U know quantity vs QUALITY)) also the MEXICO has not defeated the U.S. in U.S. in along time but the U.S. has never defeated MEXICO in MEXICO EVER.

Right Now...you cant really tell who is better.
US has played very smart tactical games when they played against Mexico, that is why they havent been able to defeat them recently.
Player Vs. Player...Mexico has an edge on tha US.
But mexico's players for some reason dont always play good as a team, that is when they lose to "inferior" teams.(honduras)

Statistically and historically Mexico is far better than the US, and they have had pretty good matches versus the big teams (ie Argentina, Brazil, Germany). Problem is that lately Mexican players get to the games too relaxed and "believe" that they can win games versus the Concacaf teams and we see them have problems controlling such games.

The US appear to have improved lately but if they do not send players to Europe (like they did a while ago) then we could start seeing them lose ground.

Mexico its BETTER. Its true that Mexico has struggled against the USA, but that is not a valid argument. Brazil hasnt beat Mexico in a while, but I wont say Mexico is better than Brazil.

Yeah, they haven't beaten them in the US but in Mexico thats different. Maybe the US is better because their one of the only teams that recruit players from all over the world, Mexico's against that doing that...

Mexico is not playing well so far, unlike U.S.A had won all 3 mtaches during group stage. Furthermore it's at U.S.A. home, thus most probably U.S.A. will win the gold cup.
