I purchased a pair of black dress pants in a store and when I got home I saw the censor thing was left on them. It didnt go off like it was suppose when walking out the door.
The problem is the store is very far and I dont have time to take them back today, I need the pants tomorrow.

Do you think if I take them to another department store close to me with the receipt they would take it off for me?

The detachment mechanism is pertty much standard. It is just a strong magnet. Any store can *technically* do it for you.

Don't just smash it or pull on it. Many of them has ink in it where it will permanently stain the article.

They might, but I'd call the store you bought them at. I'd then ask them what they'd suggest.
