I am a marine biology student, and I have an opportunity coming up to interact with a pod of dolphins with my teacher/mentor, so I was wondering what kind of behavior I should avoid so I don't scare them off.

I would guess the same type of behaviors that scale away human children would scare away dolphins. Loud noises, sudden movements, throwing things at them, jabbing your fingers in their eyes, etc.

I'm sure your teacher will go over everything with you, but just keep movments slow like you would any wild animal. If the pod is very human friendly or even trained then they're going to be pretty used to humans already.

Christianity and Islam. Avoid preaching to them, they are smarter than humans and will NOT "buy" the crap...
