Why can't the Democrat Party end the Iraq War?

The Dems can read polls just fine and what the majority of Americans continue to say is that they do not want to cut and run in Iraq.

So if the Dems did defund the war, then come 2008 they'd have to defend their decision to lose on purpose and they'd be tarred with the brush of all the murders that will happen in Iraq immediately after that country's government collapses. [There were an estimated 30,000 political murders in Iran after the Shah's government collapsed in 1979 -- Jimmy Carter is still trying to avoid taking any responsibility for them.]

Winning in 2008 being everything to the Dems, they want the war to continue but go badly ... then they can blame George Bush and the Republicans.

Even if they get their wishes ... will they then pull out of Iraq?

My guess is that it'll depend on the latest national polls in February 2009.
