My Bank books, got changed from, Master to Mister at 16. I think 16. I personally would never use, Master at any age Mister or first name. 'just my opinion'.

I don't think you need to call your cousin "Master" unless you are his servant but you can definitely address him as "Mister" at the age of 21 when sending letters.

When, like a good slave, you learn to obey your Master and take your punishment and discipline without complaints; indeed, with sincere thanks. You then ask permission to be removed from the sling and cuffs, and beg humbly for your freedom. Then, after you have given up SM or BD, you can call your cousin "Mister".

I think that it depends largely on the boy. If he is a mature and intelligent boy, I would compliment that in him by writing..Mr. even though he is only 10. If he is acting his age then he should be called Master until he is 16.

Officially 18, age of majority most places.
I didn't think anyone still did that though.
I address most letters to first names, child or adult.
Actually, those are mostly cards not letters.

it used to be age of consent, like age 21...
i suppose legally it would be 18 now..
however 16 is the age when young adults leave school and can work...
so 16 maybe?
or when they are teenagers? 13? altho that sounds too young....

I'd say about 10.
But the one you have to really watch out for is when it becomes "Ms".
