I'm supposed to change my desktop background and then press Print screen on my keyboard and paste into my word document, but for some reason nothing would paste, how do I do that?

I did that and it would not pass the picture it would paste something else like something I copied before

Pressing the Print Screen button will copy the current display into the clipboard. Next, just open an image editing program (Paint, Photoshop, etc.) and press CTRL+V to paste.

When viewing your desktop background, try Control-Shift-PrintScreen
Switch to your word document, and press Control-V
Voila
