It is illegal to run for or hold public office in Texas if you are an atheist. This is a clear violation of the separation of church and state, but the law is still there. You probably wouldn't get elected anyway, but there shouldn't be a law against this - its blatantly unconstitutional.

in Texas we have what we call "blue laws" - old laws that say when liquor can't be sold, and other businesses that can or cannot be open when.
beer cannot be sold after midnight, or before noon on Sunday.
liquor cannot be sold after 9 p.m., and not at all on Sunday.
car dealerships can be open Saturday or Sunday, but not both. the Carmax's here stay open, because their nation-wide network of dealers make them able to afford the $10,000.00 per day they are fined to stay open all weekend.
