So it basically states a Mac is a pc, any home computer is a pc then why do people say mac vs pc

OK, we are hair splitting here. The term "PC" was originally a brand name for a specific computer produced in 1983 by IBM. It has come to mean any home computer running Windows on an Intel based processor. It was not originally short for "personal computer", but has come to mean that.

MAC refers to a specific line of computers manufacutered by Apple which are very very different from the "PC" computers in software and hardware. Until the lastest model, they used a Motorola processor, scsi hard drives, and a properitory OS that only works on MACs. Could not run Windows.

So when the talk of "PC vs MAC", they are talking about the difference between the Intel based PC clones and the Apple manufactured MACs. Do a little research. They are very different machines.

Most people, when they think of PC's think of a windows based PC. Not many people use linux at home, and it is more for work usage. This question just comes down to correctness. Technically, you are right, and PC encompasses a mac and windows platform, but it has become common to think of a PC as something that runs windows, and Macs (that run mac os) as separate entities.
