You need a video card which as two monitor connectors. Most video cards do not. If yours does not, you will need to replace it with a card that does. (Start at $80 and go up rapidly from there).

They do make a cheaper VGA splitter, but it limits you to displaying the same thing on both monitors, which is not usually what people want to do. You can find splitters at any electronic store or computer shop.

as said before you can replace the gfx card with one that supports what they used to call "dual head"

OR if say its an onboard card, you can just add a card to the agp etc. slot which supports a new card..

my new gfx card has 2 vga ports, BUT i could use the onboard card in addition to use a total of 3 monitors (tad overkill)

that is dependant on the motherboard also, as some will switch off the onboard gfx card if a new ones plugged in..

and since your saying "computer " we assume its a desktop..

if its a laptop the simple answer is no.

Get 2 video cards or a video card that supports 2 monitors.

You can use more if you get more cards.

After they're installed, in Windows, right click desktop>advanced tab and check "expand my desktop to this monitor".

You need two VGA ports. Some video cards have them or you can get a splitter. Check online for those.
