Okay, at first I thought you were asking how to MAKE your own guitar...If that's an interest to you visit the site below, Brian May of Queen did just that, and it made his music unique and instantly recognizable as HIS...
As for making yours sound more professional, you should probably just get some effects pedals, most guitarists use them to customize the sound they get and they allow you to switch effects with the tap of a toe...Happy strumming!

No offense intended, but you have to be able to play it like a professional to get everything out of it that it is capable of. That means tons of practice and gaining general knowledge. Also, don't sweat trying to mimmick somebody else's sound. It is extremely expensive to buy all of the different effects. In the end you will find that they have a unique touch to how they play. It is much more satisfying to come up with your own sound that you are happy with.

Practice Practice Practice. Your playing will sound like crap when you first start out, but in time it will improve. Get a nice amp and shred it up, you'll get the hang of it eventually.

Get a Roland microcube. You can change all the sounds and make it sound professional. Its awesome.
