and saying, No Thank You, as the person cooking makes way too many leftovers, they just say Yes, I'll take it, thanks.

Then as soon as they go home, they throw it out in the woods!

Have you ever heard of anyone else doing this, or is it just my crazy family?

I never take home leftovers, I don't like being responsible for bringing back the dish....

This happened only once.

The people who had us over simply insisted we take the leftovers. I took them home and put them in the freezer until it was time we asked them over for a meal.

I took out the leftovers and made a casserole (not bad, actually) and made sure they recognized the ingredients.

I was never asked to take leftovers again.

Well your family's a touch of crazy, but they are just trying to be nice, this would never happen in my family, we don't get a choice, when my Nana, or grandma says here take this with you, you take it with you and it's good food so why am I going to throw it away?

My family members put scraps near their woods to feed the deer but complain about the neighbor who does the same thing to feed the bears. Ummm, don't they eat the same things?

All families have at least a touch of craziness.

My wife is worst in the opposite direction. She will save any tiny dollop of whatever until it has cultured itself into a new life-form, finally throwing it away once it has petitioned the UN for recognition.

Best Regards.

I've taken stuff home that I didn't necessarily want, but sure didn't throw it in the woods! Wish I would've thought of it. LOL

Try to look at it like this...

It's a win win situation.

The person offering doesn't get offended....
and the little biddy squirrelly type rascals in the woods get a free meal.

Happy days all round...!

(unless you wind up attracting bears...!!!)

I can't say for sure, if the food is just God awful I understand throwing it in the woods but if it is tasty I don't.

I'll do it if I feel obligated to take something home. My mom cooks wayyy too much food on Christmas, so I take some home and just toss it to make her feel better. :)
