I found these corny-sounding when I was a child -- but boy are they true, and boy do I follow them.

1. Opportunity is not a lengthy visitor.

2. An ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure.

3. Don't put off until tomorrow what you can do today.

4. No knot unties itself.

5. A job worth doing is worth doing well

6. Do unto others as you'd have them do unto you. [I wish more so-called "Christians" practiced this one.]

I've made up a mantra that I use in losing weight, since I've determined that I got overweght because I have a certain level of food addiction: "Food is fuel, not fun." It probably sounds bizarre, but it works for me -- I'm changing myself to think of eating as a life-sustaining chore only.

"Never let the sun go down on your anger." This is an excellent old saying that makes much better relationships, one I always try to follow. We should never go to bed angry at anyone especially our mate, that makes a whole lot of sense. God bless you. Great question too :) ☼

I like "Carpe Diem," which pretty much means, "Sieze the Day," or, you know, don't just sit there taking everything for granted, go out there and "Take the bull by the horns," a "nothing ventured, nothing gained" type of outlook.
