You are preaching to the chior with me personally but the problem is that many people either don't seem to think that there are terrorist actions in the works right now (ie, the Fort Dix plot, the JFK airport Plot) or they believe that terrorists have some sort of valid argument against the US and western civilization.
We need to reinforce the fact that just because people anywhere in the world are poor doesn't mean they will turn to terrorism and it doesn't give them the right to be terrorists.
If the country was more united now then the war would definitely go more smoothly but the fight will definitely move from location to location. From Iraq it will probably move to Iran or Gaza then Sudan. This fact doesn't play well with Americans who don't like the idea of buying into a protracted fight. Plus, many people only want to fight to stop an agression that has already occurred instead of trying to be proactive and stop somehting before it gets bigger.

So they have studied our way in order to divide us into Democrats and Republicans...?
Hmmm. Dems think we can talk our way out of terrorist situations. Reps don't think that is a wise idea. These people have lied to each other for thousands of years. Why would they NOT lie to a Democrat ? I just don't get it.
Either way, there are two different ideologies to this issue and there will be no way they will combine or compromise.
I do not believe everything I hear in the major news media (NBC, CBS, ABC, CNN, ect.). I make educated decisions on my own. I look into subjects that are of interest to me. I'm a prowd Republican and generate solar power for my home. Why ? Its the right thing to do. Its the smart thing to do. I believe that if we pull out of the war now... It WILL make the point to the terrorists that they have won. They can continue the war of terror where ever they need to. Terrorism is not acceptable for any reason. Just because a society has done it for thousands of years... it is not right, and will not be accepted by the majority of the world.
When the rest of the US quits alowing the media to decide thing for them, then things will change.

What Eve said above.
And I'll add, how can you not know or notice that America had foundational problems before this war that seemed to be constantly getting better...many quirts but workable and livable. Then the dictator comes in, who isn't very smart...knew little on foreign affairs and decides to call a terrorist attack a war. This war has gotten exaserbated by racists in America who were itching to express their hate of and "superiority" to everything not white, along with greed in America and an unrealistic notion of the same types of minds that believe they can walk all over anyone because their money, power and position endows them to. We are fighting a war on mindsets. Mindsets that are intolerant and destructive and that bring out the worse in our country...things most of us want to live down and move on away from. I love the principles of this country but for the last several years we've in no way lived up to any of them. Americans were told they were going to war -- not given a choice. Worse, it was based on lies and the terrorist who supposedly orchestrated the attack that started it all is still free. It isn't even propaganda anymore, it is non-sense and I worry because we are blinded to a lot of things by focusing solely on that. We've forgotten our own baseline of ideals when it comes to freedom and democracy. Worse still, I am left to wonder, how much more is it that the average citizen doesn't know about that has happened by these same kind of people to other countries that makes those countries happy to hate everything here.
Then on top of the political mess we're left with morality issues in our country that everyone needs to wake up and deal with. However, comparably, dealing with those issues would have been a whole lot easier then dealing with an unjust war that there is now no way of leaving without having done something horrible to a country, a people and even our own citizens.

So lavadog. I am guseeing that you get most of your news from the liberal media that you so distrust.
The porpose of terrorism is to leverage the media to breed fear, distrust, outrage, and hatred among the targeted population. BY sanitizing the reports of terrorist activities, we are protected from the realities of death and find more outrage in our own imagination.
In many nations throughout the world, car-bombings, suicide bombings, militias and death squads prowling the streets are so common place that the citizens of those countries accept it as part of the inconveniences of life.
Many years ago, before the internet, during the Cold war, a friend told me the simple way to spot propaganda (what is now called spin) in the news. Listen to the propaganda from both sides, and everything they agree on is news. Everything else is propaganda.
Also, consider any possible motives the source of the news may have in trying to sway things to their point of view. What is their incentive for trying to limit your knowledge.
We are divided as a nation because we have been brainwashed into a binary modality.. All or nothing, that which is not absolutely true is absolutly false, us vs them, black or white.
In reality, absolute binary opposites do not exist. There is black, there is white, there are infinite shades of gray, and a whole spectrum of colors in between. There are Democrats that do not favor gun control, there are republicans that are pro-choice.
We are divided because it suits the political and financial interests of relatively small groups of people that reap much profit from our division. Unity can not be achieved without concession from all sides, I and I fail to see that happening soon.

So does this paraphrase what you are saying and your beliefs?
"Of course the people don't want war. But after all, it's the leaders of the country who determine the policy, and it's always a simple matter to drag the people along whether it's a democracy, a fascist dictatorship, or a parliament, or a communist dictatorship. Voice or no voice, the people can always be brought to the bidding of the leaders. That is easy. All you have to do is tell them they are being attacked, and denounce the pacifists for lack of patriotism, and exposing the country to greater danger."

You may not be dumb hon, but what do you think is dividing America? How can you blame them? They're over there...America was long divided before they entered the picture. They just shoved that anvil clear through the rock.
PS: Something to ponder,
One of the definitions of the word "politics" is:
"social relations involving intrigue to gain authority or power"
Another:
"Intrigue or maneuvering within a political unit or group in order to gain control or power"
So if you think you're not being manipulated...think again! ;~)
The military by the way is an entity onto itself don't you think?

i think of the ameliorations between individuals are too ideological particularly than geographical to ever separate the U. S.. you will discover super wallet of conservatives in California, merely such as you will discover super communities of liberals in Texas even although we are delivered approximately have faith in any different case from maps divided by utilizing blue and purple painted everywhere in the internet and archives. merely because of the fact the media has established that there are in easy terms 2 sides to discussions interior the U. S., does not mean that it is extremely the reality. extremely, maximum American opinion is extremely different from one guy or woman to the subsequent. subsequently, you have the evangelical who's professional determination or the college professor who believes interior the draft. existence here rather isn't as black and white as CNN or FOX could have us think of. this is the reason we could continually shop talking/arguing those issues out.

Well, we can only work together when everyone agrees to throw politics out the window. But since that is not likely to happen in DC, then we have to find some level playing field.
But that will not happen until the selfish "person" that is in the White House is out. He doesn't like to give in for anything.

Although I am a Buddhist, I know the Christian bible says, "Any kingdom divided against itself is laid waste; and any city or house divided against itself shall not stand".
"Divide and conquer" has always been a successful military tactic. Kings and generals have known it throughout history.

It could be when Bush told the people of America that they either supported him or the terrorists that the divisions started.
