...of course it's a build-up to Vengeance, but is there any way to resolve this without pissing the fans off?

The most logical answer would be that Vince faked his own death. Given his mental state he would have found the pressure of running the WWE to be too much. Plus, he himself conviently scheduled his own tribute show (McMahon appreciation night) knowing he was going to do this.

I bet theyll say Coachman did it.
Everyone knows he aint really dead.
Hes just retiring.
But i bet the storyline will playout
as if Coachman did it.
Coachman even said himself,
after mcmahon died, he hoped hed get
a big promotion to become the new
Chairman,
(haha the raw commercial with ladies and gentleman song just came on my tv)
