I'm in the exact same position as you. If you have a garden or some green space nearby, spend the evening celebrating the sunset.
I've got some inflatable chairs to relax in, bring friends too if possible. Have a barbecue, even if only a disposable one, nice nibbles, drinks, watch the sunset together and bring some warm blankets for when it gets cooler. insense, candels, flowers, kites....games, whatever you want to bring......I had a solstice once when I played a dice game with a friend and her kids, we were both broke. The energy in the air, and the strangeness of doing indoor activities outside made the whole experience seem stranger and richer.
The colours red, yellow and orange are special....involve the whole faimly in this celebration of energy and love..treat the event with reverence and the evening will magically unfold into something wortwhile.

Well, I was celebrating in a way, I was working all day long in the scorching sun, LOL!
I don't know, I wish I could go to some proper celebration, but there isn't any in this part of the world. I'll probably just light a small fire and have a drink in honor of Sunna. If I can get some friend pagans over, we might celebrate on a larger scale this weekend. Better late than never...

Stay outside all day and enjoy the longest day of the year and save on your electrical bill. Then, go to a double feature at a drive-in theater, which will start at about 10 p.m. and end at about 3 a.m. Ponder the fact that starting the next day, days will keep getting shorter until December 21. Think about all that snow falling in the southern hemisphere and be thankful you won't have to deal with it for another six months.
That seems like a practical way to enjoy it, instead of worshipping the god of sunbeams, or anything like that.

Yay! A Solstice Question!
I'm going to make lemon and lavendar sorbet, and have some fresh fruits and veggies and dip with dinner. We're also going to have a barbeque picnic for dinner and read bedtime stories featuring the symbolic animals of the holiday. The kids are too young to stay up all night and I have to work the next day, so that'll be it. I will light some candles on the eve though.
