No, although they do repel certain insects, they do not repel mosquitoes. Citronella plants repel mosquitoes and so do some scented geraniums (the ones that smell like citronella).

Marigolds do repel some insects. That in addition to being edible make it a good reason for growing them. Unfortunately the smell may also repel some humans.

They do deter rabbits - a bit, if planted thickly, the bunnies tend to go around rather than through.
Cintronella plants will repel moquitos - but only in the very immediate vicinity. If you're standing a few feet away from the plant, the attraction to your exhalation (they detect concentrations of carbon dioxide to zero in on mammals for their bloodmeals) will win out over the repellant qualities of the plant.
Make sure there are no places with standing water around your house, to lessen the chances of their breeding on your property.

I plant mint to rid the yard of mosquito's. It smell great and looks
really good in planters and great for rock gardens.

p.s I have marigolds too,
I was told they are good bug repelants....but I was not told what kind of bug?
