Yes, but they can't face it at all. Bush will do anything to keep this war going, and continue it will. Add that to the corruption steadily leaking out of the White House and D.C. and it adds up to a loss for the Republicans in '08.
The front runner in the Republican Party is Rudy Giuliani, who just said last week we need MORE troops in Iraq, and right behind him is Fred Thompson, who hasn't even make his real declaration for the White House and is so far right he makes McCarthy look like a communist (even though when was actually a Senator he voted on a very liberal basis for a Republican). They're going to run on "terror and fear," and they're stuck in between trying to distance themselves from George Bush and still try to look like Republican loyalists. Congress has a very low approval ratings, but they also ignore that the Republicans come in much lower than the Democrats when the party numbers are broken out. This country clearly is looking for a regime change, and the Republicans keep putting their foot in their own mouths and ignoring what it is that drives that desire for the regime change. Iraq. And Iraq means George Bush the Republican, and he has damaged their party badly. If he keeps the war going, which likely he will, do they really think the American people are going to hand the keys to the henhouse to the next Republican fox standing in line? Yes, they do, and it will be their downfall.

A knockout? You mean like the total dissolution of the GOP? You are delusional.
The Democrats have Congress and what are they doing? Nothing of any great importance. Picking on Alberto Gonzales? Carping about the fact 8 US Attorneys got axed? The facts are IF the President says to a US Attorney you are fired because I don't like your tie. He's gone. And there is nothing he can do about it.
How do I know? My wife used to work for a US Attorney (Chuck Banks) out of Little Rock. Clinton became President and ALL 90+ US Attorneys got axed. Never mind Chuck had an extremely high number(and percentage) of cases successfully prosecuted. He was axed the day Clinton took office.
You want something glorious. Have the Democrats actions mimic their words.

it is precisely what i presumed in 2004 and look what got here approximately. even even with the undeniable fact that Rove isn't formally pulling Bush's PR strings, I surely have a feeling he and Cheney will around up yet another "quick boat" propaganda tale on whoever the Democrat nominee is and Fox information will play it around the clock. they'll play the terror card and if yet another terrorist attack does not ensue they'll initiate a conflict with Iran in accordance with lies and then declare the Democrat is in simple terms too vulnerable on protection like they continually do. Then there is the completed subject of laptop hacking of balloting tabulations and retaining minorities off the balloting lists. i've got self belief a feeling of Doom. whether Hillary wins i do no longer see lots to rejoice as she has an imperialist professional-Pentagon balloting checklist.

Polls show dems and repubs (with some exceptions in both parties) neck and neck if the election were held today. With the approval rating for the Democrat controlled Congress lower than that of George Bush, I'm thinking, probably not.

why... what have the democrats accomplished that will make voters turn to them in 2008?
against everyone in america, they are trying to push through an amnesty bill... that means they care more about the criminal illegal aliens then what americans want.
we are still in iraq
instead of the 'freeze' on pork spending, weve seen it sky rocket.
minimum wage is the same
student loan interest rates are the same
the democrats have failed voters... they arent going to win in 08.. if people vote for them, i seriously wonder about their mental state. what would make someone vote for a party that didnt do a freaking thing when they were in power>?
alot of people say the republicans were the do nothing congress, but me, being an independent voter, wonder what they are talking about.
we saw massive tax cuts
we saw cuts to medicare
we saw increase in military spending
we saw the only president ever to put national guard troops on our border
we saw an increase in border patrol agents
we saw 2 different wars
the republican congress was by far the most successful congress weve ever seen... just because you dont like what they did, doesnt mean they werent unsuccessful.

Not necessarily. The Democratic party must fulfill the promises they made during election, which they have not totally done yet. The lack of progress toward these promises has left congress with a poor approval rating, if things don't change there will be a sweeping change the other way.

I second that motion...they're going to get their asses kicked... the only poll republicans can win is maybe in yahoo bloggasphere... because this time around they just don't get it. New Hampshire, a northeast conservative state just went bluer than blue last November. They picked up the state house, senate, executive council, governor, and both US house seats, first time in over a hundred and fifty years. I suspect it's going national in 08. Take that Republicans... and shove it!!!

It depends on who the Demo's nominate. If it's a Ron Paul or thompson vs Clinton, fuhgetaboutit. Not happening.
My advice - run a smart, clean candidate if you want a prayer's chance in 08.

Not likely, and seeing this congress has a lower approval rating than the last the liberals need to worry about holding on to the slim lead they have.

not with harry reid fronting the dem cause. his approval is 19% and congress is 26%. they are no better off than the reps. they have done nothing to solidify their position and i feel that the reps are positioning themselves and the dems are still bush-bashing, which may be well for the 30% base but does nothing for the 60% of independents out there.i say fred thompson will lead for the rep and i am still not sure about the dems.
