If you start taking them within the first 24 hours of your period, you're protected from pregnancy immediately. If you use the Sunday start method, you need to take seven active (hormone) pills before you're protected from pregnancy.
Neither one is better than the other, and they both offer you the same protection from pregnancy. Some people find that they don't menstruate on weekends if they start the pill on the weekend, but others don't. It's really all up to you.

I started taking mine on the first day of my period. I haven't had any problems doing it that way. I know what day I'm going to get it and for how long it will last for every month, and I only been on the pill since March. I read in my booklet that came with my pills that if you take it on the first day of your period, then you can have sex without protection, but if you take it the first sunday after your period, you need to use protection for at least the first 7 days. I don't know how much of a difference it makes when or how you start them. Just read the booklet that came with your pills if you haven't and do what you think is better for you. Don't forget to take your pill at the same time EVERYDAY! Good luck!

in case you have been on the pill for a whole month already, that is risk-free. What counts maximum is taking the pills on time (an identical time known, and commencing up a sparkling cycle on the sunday, or despite day you %, following the 1st day of your era) for them to artwork top.

No it really doesn't matter when you start taking them as long as you take them. They say if you take them on Sunday you won't get your period on the weekend, but my body doesn't care if it's the weekend or not, it still comes. You can take them whenever you wish.

It makes no difference, the only reason they have you do it that way is because they want you to be sure your not pregnant. I started taking mine on some random thursday, and i'm just fine, no spotting or nothing.
