Try looking up the movie or show in amazon.com, imdb.com, or Wikipedia. Between those sites you should be able to find a DVD release date.
You can also just use Google. Use the movie (or show) title and "DVD release" as search terms, and that should dig up the date without much trouble.

Try imdb.com - it includes complete reviews and DVD release schedules for every movie ever produced. You will learn more than you could ever imagine about movies.

check their site on tuesdays--thats when new movies come out. Also on their site is a coming soon section, which lets u know ahead of time.
