Besides the morons who say Bush is the worst President in history just because they are poor and get taxed more doesn't mean Bush is the worst President ever. Statistically and factually, Jimmy Carter was the worst. His pathetic leadership during the Iran Hostage Crisis led to the rise of Islamofascism and since Carter was too cowardly to finish the Iranians off 28 years ago, we have to deal with those idiots building a nuke now and we have to deal with their buddy bin Laden, who Carter gladly gave weapons and money to. If Carter was not our President, Iran would be a parking lot and Osama would have been defeated 26 years ago and the Middle East would be mostly democracy and it would be wealthy.

Anyone who thinks that Carter, Dubya or even Nixon are the worst obviously hasn't studied American history. There is a consensus among historians that the worst President in history was Warren G. Harding.

Harding himself is often quoted as saying, "I am not fit for this office and never should have been here."

The most infamous scandal of the time was the Teapot Dome affair, which shook the nation for years after Harding's death. The scandal involved Secretary of the Interior Albert B. Fall, who was convicted of accepting bribes and illegal no-interest personal loans in exchange for the leasing of public oil fields to business associates. (Absent the bribes and personal loans, the leases themselves were quite legal.) In 1931, Fall became the first member of a presidential Cabinet to be sent to prison.

Thomas Miller, head of the Office of Alien Property, was convicted of accepting bribes. Jess Smith, personal aide to the Attorney General, destroyed papers and then committed suicide. Charles Forbes, director of the Veterans Bureau, skimmed profits, earned large amounts of kickbacks, and directed underground alcohol and drug distribution. He was convicted of fraud and bribery and drew a two-year sentence. Charles Cramer, an aide to Charles Forbes, also committed suicide.

Harding's own attorney general himself resigned for accepting bribes.

No evidence to date suggests that Harding personally profited from these crimes, but he was apparently unable to stop them. "My God, this is a hell of a job!" Harding said. "I have no trouble with my enemies, but my damn friends, my God-damned friends... they're the ones that keep me walking the floor nights!"

Then there were the extramarital affairs. It has been recorded in primary documents that during his lifetime, Harding had an affair with Carrie Fulton Phillips

You are incredibly misled to think that way.

The Iranian Revolution was not within the hands of Carter. He was helpless. He was goddamn helpless if the Iranians resented the 37-year rule of the shah. Do you seriously think that any external force could've bottled up a populist revolution? It wouldn't matter if Reagan was the president then, he would've opted for the same resolutions as Carter and yet you blame Carter for something he could not do and was not subject to be handled by him alone. No military option would've helped us and as for "Islamofascism"? Are you an idiot?

no bush is still the worse
1)at war with a country that nothing to do with 9/11
2)allowed homeland security t spy on Americans
3)lied to us about on countless occasions about the Iraq war
4)raised taxes,supports illegal immigration
granted you make a excellent point about carter, but lets think about now. our current president has placed this country at jeopardy not only with our enemies but also with our allies. Also as a taxpayer I don't think its right that illegal immigrants are allowed to come over and receive the same and in some case better benefits from the government.Jimmy Carter may have done the things you've stated but he didn't let abandon the American people like Bush has done.

Great points, although I'm not sure Carter was the worst in history, the industrial revolution era presidents were pretty much puppets of industrialism.

Why even ask this question then? I mean you answered it yourself.

I think bush is the worst President, but not because of taxes like you said. I think he is the worst President because
1. His signing statements when he signs bills where he says he doesn't have to follow the law of that bill.
2. PATRIOT act
3. The attorney firing scandal
4. Cheney
5. Cheney
6. Cheney
7. The war in Iraq
8. His utter disregard for everyone who does not agree with him

Lyndon B. Johnson. He sent innocent young boys, and men, not allowing them to win the war in Vietnam, so he could make millions of dollars, through a company called Brown, and Root, which his wife, Lady Bird owned 1/3 of stocks in for military uniforms, and other items, not needed. He was pure evil to let 17 year olds go off to die for his own self-profit.

I think it would be Andrew Johnson, 17th President of the United States. When Abraham Lincoln died in office, Johnson, a democrat, took the reign as president. While in office he was a blockade to Post-Civil War reconstruction of the south.

While president, many of the confederate politicans and Generals went back to being authority figures in the south and it seemed like the Civil War did nothing to change the problems of slavery, States Rights, and the political landscape of the south.

Only when the Republican Congress unified, did the changes take place. The Congress time and time again over-rided Johnson's Vetos. As president, all he did was stand in the way of change.

Actually James Buchanan was useless as a president and did virtually nothing to prevent the Civil War due to his investments in land used by many southern plantations.
