If you divide the stage into 9 portions, three in front and three in the middle and three in back the one in the back in the center is called Up Center or UC for short. I believe they call it that because stages used to be built on a slight slant so the audiences would have a better view. Hence, it was 'up' center. I think I remember that from an early drama class, but don't quote me on that. Can anyone else confirm??

If you're looking at the stage from the audience and this sentence is backstage the locations would be:

Up Right Up Center Up Left

Center Right Center Stage Center Left

Down Right Down Center Down Left

The directions go according to you standing on stage, not the audience member. So it's your right and left, not whomever is in the audience. I hope that answers your question!

I tried to space it out like a diagram, but it's not coming out that way when I submit it. Sorry!

nicely, in case you "relatively need the respond" for homework, you should purpose Wikipedia. the concern is that the respond isn't that easy. A "thrust" or "apron" degree grew to become into used at outdoors theatres. It grew to become into in keeping with courtyards. The degree grew to become right into a rectangle, many times with a seize door, a balcony, and a roof over it. The purpose industry sat and stood on 3 aspects. performs on the court itself may well be greater of a "black field," this is merely an open room. There might probable be a smaller degree and a few thing greater like monitors or curtains at the back of the actors for them to make differences and such. there grew to become into additionally the Blackfriars, even with the reality that i'm no longer particular how the staging grew to become into executed there; Shakespeare and his group owned this former tennis court for indoor performances. that's surprisingly much particular that curtains have been on no account between the objective industry and the actors at any factor different than in balconies or the "inner decrease than," a close-by under the balconies.
