So I'm short 5'1, 102 and don't have many options in the bike department. I decided on a Kawasaki Nina EX 250. Tell me which bike you would buy

95 Kawasaki EX 250 black/with aqua purple strips, 4700 miles on it and has never been dropped, needs nothing for $1350 firm.

99 Kawasaki EX 250 green with blue strips 7900 miles, never been dropped small dent near gas tank, hasn't really been ridden in 2 years but is started up every once in while to keep it going, starts up every time, tires are okay for the rest of the summer. I will want to do an oil change and put carb cleaner in since nothing has been done in that 2 years except the new battery. I also know someone to do the carb cleaning manually if it needs that so it won't cost me much. Price is $1200 obo.

I'm a new rider and this will be my practice bike so keep that in mind. Not interested in a brand new one.

The 99 one is $1150. Would it make sense to get the newer and save the $200? All the bike needs is a few low cost things. The max it will need is the manual carb cleaning which won't cost me much anyway. I mean getting an oil change and carb cleaner isn't going to cost much. Plus with the new battery I wouldn't have to worry about buying one for a while.

The guy is firm on the 95 at $1350. The carbs for the 99 aren't a problem because I have a friend that can do with no problem.

And tires are only going to run me around $150

I'd probably go with the 95. It doesn't matter how old the bike is. It has less miles than the other one and it sounds less neglected. Just make sure it runs strong. If everything on it is mechanically sound, the worst that could happen is you may need new tires or clean the carb because it sat too long.

Get the newer bike.

The difference between 4700 miles and 7900 miles is negligible to the point of being a non factor.

The mileage being out the window, Go for the newer bike that's less expensive.

The newer bike.
The mileage between the two isn't even a factor.
The bikes are the same except the 4 year difference.
The newer bike has an additional 4 years of up-grades to improve the performance and reliability.
The older bike will depreciate in value (when considering to sell), twice as fast as the newer bike.

The newer one. Think of how fast computer and cell phone technology changes. Bike manufacturers update their bikes almost every year. You will get a better value for your money and with a little riding and cleaning up of your own, you can probably get better resale. I new a girl ur size that rode a cbr 600 and had no problems with it once she got a lil experience. Good Luck

you will want to go with a newer bike because of your size. A newer bike will be lighter and a little smaller, and easier to find parts for should anything happen. (heaven forbid). As for the miles on the bike I have a 00 R1 with 60000 miles and it still goes 280+ km\h. it just depends on the maintenance of the previous owner.

go with the one that has been ridden everyday, the carbs are a hassle to deal with...its never "just a carb cleaning" insurance will be lower, the tires that have been sitting on the 99 are prob cracked or old. 4 years different isnt that much at all.plus you could try talking him down to a lil lower price too. go with your gut feeling.....good luck!

You don't need a new bike...but stay away from the crotch rockets; they're death by wheels. Get a small Harley and you'll never ride anything but a Harley from then on!
