I would defend the Red Sox if anyone says that they were on steroids because that is definitely not true. After losing the first 3 games of the ALCS, they obviously corked all of their bats. They probably just used their regular bats until they went into extra innings. Okay, maybe they got lucky when they came back from being one strike away from being eliminated but all of those hits and home runs in games 5 - 7 were obviously the result of corked bats!!!

If anyone used steroids, it has to be David Ortiz. I mean, look at how big he was with Minnesota (he was average size) and now with the Red Sox, his muscles are huge!

This same question should also apply to the 2006 Tigers. Kenny Rogers cheated! Look at the sh** he had on his pitching hand! The Tigers only lost the World Series is because an umpire told Rogers to wash his hands. Unfortunately, the umpires didn't notice it before they beat the Yankees.

I can't believe I'm going to dignify your question with a response, but I feel like I have to. It was great to see the Red Sox come back thanks to a Yankee choke for once. And the biggest choke in baseball history I might add. This puts all the BS about a curse behind the Red Sox and now the Cubs are the only 'cursed' team in the majors.
As for cheating, no. Just no. Did Bucky Dent cork his bat to hit the only home run of his career in that fateful game? Did Aaron Boone? Even if they did use corked bats and steroids, coming back from the brink of elimination like the Red Sox did and stomping all over the Evil Empire is damn impressive. And it's much more impressive that they did it without cheating and without buying every overpriced, over-the-hill free agent on the market.

There is no way you can seriously accuse the Red Sox of cheating. It simply comes down to who played harder and who wanted it more. On paper, the Yankees had the stronger team in terms of stats but the Red Sox had a stronger hunger during that series and never gave up.
The best example of this happening before is in 1993 when the Phillies beat my beloved Braves in the NL championship. Again, on paper my Braves were definitely stronger in stats, but the Phillies definitely played harder and performed better. It was like my Braves underestimated the Phillies and were punished for doing so.
I really respect the Yankee fans who have answered this question with respect for the performance of the Red Sox during that series, I know it is hard for you but kudos to you all for not feeding into this question that is an obvious attempt at starting an argumentive thread.

Do you actually know how much a corked bat helps? on average it only increases the distance a ball is hit by 5 to 6 feet, do you really think that made us win 8 straight games?

Are you on drugs? The Spankees choked plain and simple. Plus that little girl ARod SLAPPED a ball out of someone's hand! Give me a break. The Yankees are done and there isn't enough money in the world to fix it now.Enjoy ARod's summer it will be the only thing you can cheer for!

I agree with Chipmaker. Another typical example of what New York arrogance and rudeness is all about. Yes, New Yorkers are widely criticized for the type of people they are. And so dam spoiled with all their championships, when the Red Sox finally win 1, some try in vain to make excuses such as this dumb***. Let us enjoy our 1 title while you go cry to your mommy.

Any proof to such accusations that they corked their bats? Or are you just a moron? Face it they won fair and square just like everyone has said, even the Yankees fans new it was just a hard fought series for both sides, a great series by both teams, neither one cheated, neither needed to.
As for you accusations that Ortiz is much bigger now

Hmmmmm, much bigger huh? Looks exactly the same to me, face it your just either a) looking for an excuse b) trying to stir people up. Either way you just sound like you have no clue about baseball or anything.

Questions like this are one of the many reasons people hate us Yankee fans.
Why can't you just give the Red Sox credit and their props for coming back and winning?
